First off, Reiki is not as difficult to say as Feng Shui. Reiki (Ray-Kee) has been around for thousands of years. Hands-on healing is not something new, it is however, becoming more mainstream then ever before.
Once upon a time, long ago, it was believed that energy work was a selected gift that only a few held, for instance, Shaman, Sages, Prophets, and Healers were called to help those in need. They would lay hands on the person who was ill and WHA-LA that person would be better, sometimes totally healed from an ailment. We’ve all seen movies or read stories about healing’s like this. What is so great about Reiki, is that everyone holds the ability to perform Reiki, it is not for a select few, it is for anyone who feels the call to practice this ancient healing art.
First and foremost Reiki can help a person settle in, relax and become focused and get clarity for a problem or issue, be it physical or emotional. Reiki energy can be used to help people before a surgical procedure, it can be used post-surgery as well. It helps with restless leg syndrome, fibromyalgia, sprains, headaches and a host of other physical symptoms and ailments. It helps reduce mental stress too.
A research article from the Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2011, shares the results of a 2011 replication trial that was originally conducted in 2010. The goal of the trial was to see if Reiki had any impact on depression and/or anxiety. 40 university students with either high depression and/or anxiety or low depression and/or anxiety were randomly selected to receive or not receive Reiki over an eight week period.
Participants were asked to measure mood, illness symptoms and sleep, before the trial began, and then self-report five weeks after discontinuing their eight-week sessions. Those with high depression and/or anxiety who received Reiki had “progressive improvement in overall mood while no change was seen in the control participants” (Bowden, Goddard, Gruzelier, 2011) . To that point, findings in both the 2010 and 2011 studies found Reiki may improve overall mood.
Reiki is focused on sending energy to the main Seven Chakras (Cha Kr ahs), these are energy centers that run from the bottom of your spine to the top of your head. The goals is to have them balanced and spinning so they can send consistent energy to all parts of your body and your organs. Imagine the Seven Chakras are the main circuit breaker in your home. If one of those breakers is off, or the wiring is bad and the connection is broken the energy doesn’t flow and that causes issues.
Quantum physics has determined that everything is energy, including people. This energy vibrates at different levels. EKG machines read energy/vibration levels of your heart. Polygraph machines read energy\/vibrational levels of certain parts of your body. When a person has an injury or emotional upset, their vibration/energy level changes, Reiki can be used to improve those energies/vibrational levels.
Reiki is a natural form of energy work that can help a person relax, get focused find clarity and feel emotionally and physically better.
